A

Because he managed to successfully defend the king against the Vikings, against all the odds. He also believed in good laws and tried to be fair.

A

After Alfred won the battle against the Vikings they made peace in the greatest of Britain. The north-west region was led by the Saxons, and the south-east region, Danelaw, was led by the Vikings
