Q

What does increasing the concentration do ?

A

-Increase the number of reactant particles in a given volume
-so increase the frequency of collisions between particles
-therefore more successful collisions in a given time

Q

Why is the concentration of reagents higher at the start of a reaction than the end

A

Because the reagents are used up in a reaction so concentration decreases as each one is used up

15
Q

whats a rate equation

A

rate=k [A]^a[B]^b
if its zero rder then it wont appear in the equation
if its 1st order then it will be in te equation but with no power
and if its 2nd order it will be in the equation but will be to the power of 2

16
Q

whats the equation for K

A

rate /[A]^a [B]^b

17
Q

explain how and why K varies with temperature

A

a small increase in temperature can have a big increase on the rate. and as chaning the temp has no effect on the concentration of [A] doesnt get affected. so when the LHS increases the RHS will have tp too but [A] cannot change so has to be K.

18
Q

what is an intermediate

A

when it is produced in a reaction but then used up in the next reaction

19
Q

What is the only thing that can change the rate

A

The temperature

The temperature
