provides structural support to hyaline cartilage

smooth articular surface of a bone
Fissure
a narrow opening resembling a crack usually houses nerves or blood vessels; can also divides an organ into lobes
Foramen( Foramina)
a hole or opening in a bone; allows passage of structures from one region to another
Fossa (trench)
shallow depression in a bone; may receive articulating bone or soft tissue structures
Linea
narrow ridge less pronounced that a crest
Meatus
canal like passage

prominent structure of a bone
Ramus
elongated seemingly stretched-out part of a bone
Sinus
cavity created by bones; air filled space in a bone
Suture
type of synarthrosis joint that doesn’t allow movement
Tubercle
small rounded projection
Trochanter
very large process found only on the femur
Tuberosity
large rounded often rough projection
