Acceleration

A
  • The rate of change of velocity
  • formula: acceleration= change of velocity / time taken
  • SI unit: metre per second per second (m s-2)
  • an object accelerates when there is a change in speed, direction or both

Q

Relationship between velocity and acceleration

A
  • if an object is moving with increasing velocity, it is accelerating
  • if an object is moving with decreasing velocity, it is decelerating
  • uniform acceleration is a constant rate of change of velocity. This means the change in the velocity of the object per unit time is the same
  • non-uniform acceleration is when the change in the velocity of the object per unit of time is not the same as
