Kinematics Flashcards
7 fundemental units
meters, kilograms, seconds, ampere, mole, kelvin, candela
what is precision?
refers to how Small a measurment can be
what is accuracy?
refers to how close the measurment is to the expected value
percent error
|(theoretical- experimental)/theoretical|x100
independent variable
variable that is changed
dependent variable
variable that responds
line of the best fit
straight line or a smooth curve (not the same as connceting dots)
linear relationship
y=mx+b
slope= (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
scalars
quantities that have magnitude ( size)
ex: position, speed, time
vectors
quantities that have magnitude and direction
ex: displacement, velocity, force, acceleration
what is a position of an object?
a position of an object is its location relative to a starting point
what is a distance?
it’s how far smth moves regardless of its starting point
Average velocity
is the change in displacement over time interval
SI unit: m/s
v=(df-di)/t
average speed
speed doesn’t depend on direction v(not the vector)
v=(df-di)/t
what are the 3 things you can do with a graph?
- read graph
2.find slope - find area
