A
Newcastle doesn’t receive much rainfall and it is densely populated meaning the high demand isn’t being met. Newcastle only receives around 750mm of precipitation which is not enough for the demand of a population of 5000+ per km

A
- electricity generated through hydroelectric power
- reduced water insecurity in the north east
- tourism at Kielder has created new jobs and generated incomes

- fish breeding patterns were disrupted by the dam
- farmland and habitats lost when the dam flooded
