KIDNAPPING, ABDUCTION, & AMBER ALERT Flashcards
If the kidnapping is confirmed, the uniformed officer will do
the following:
Provide PSC with a description of the victim, kidnapper, vehicles, weapons and witnesses
Request the assistance of a Robbery Investigator (or other CID Investigator in their absence)
Remain available for directions from the Investigator
When responding to abductions, officers shall:
Verify the abduction Request assistance of RID Investigator Obtain a detailed description of the victim, suspect, and any vehicles involved and broadcast a lookout Obtain photographs when available Interview the reporting person to determine when, where, and by whom he victim was last seen, and the circumstances of the disappearance Notify the sector supervisor, who shall respond to the scene Treat the location as a crime scene Conduct a thorough check of the victim’s residence Verify custody of the victim Consider broadcasting an AMBER Alert if the victim is a juvenile
All of the following criteria must exist in order for the AMBER Alert system to be activated:
A verified child abduction
Circumstances that indicate the child is
in imminent danger of bodily harm or
death
A description of the child
A description of the suspect or vehicle
involved
Likelihood that the child or suspect is in
the broadcast area
