Homeopathy
System of medicine guided by principle that a substance that causes a symptom pattern in a healthy individual can cure the disease that exhibits the same pattern in a sick individual
Allopathy
System of medicine which treats disease by remedies that produce different effects from those produced by the disease under treatment
Isopathy
Treatment of disease by using the causal agent of the same disease. I.e. vaccines, homeopathic sarcodes for dysfunctional glands or organs
Repertory
Compilation of symptoms catalogued alphabetically and by organ.
Each Sx has medicine that has been clinically observed and verified to cure that sx

A list of medicines that cure a certain symptom
Materia medica
Medicinal quialities of all the substances used in homeopathy
Exciting cause
A force that causes a person to get into a remedy state- to become symptomatic. Something cause excites or causes disease
Ie: death of loved one, abuse, certain foods, accidents
Exciting cause+ susceptibility= disease state
Characteristic Symptom
A symptom that has a unique aspect about it
I.e. H/A starts at 3pm
Combination remedies
Low does remedies that are combined (X or low C)
Keynote
Symptom unique to a medicine
I.e. delusions of being brittle (thuja)
Proving
Method used to understand medicinal indiciations of a substance.
A group of healthy volunteers take repeated doses of a homeopathic substance and record changes and symptoms- from dreams to physical sx
Aggravation
Temporary worsening of symptoms cause by a medicine. A true aggravation is a good sign that the proper remedy was given
Succuss
To strike a contained medicine in order to potentize the substance
Potentization
Dilute and succuss. A substance’s medicinal properties increase while it’s toxic properties are minimized
Miasm
Pace and depth of dz, and the level of desperation the patient percieves
Modality
Factors that make a sx better or worse
-time of day, moon cycles, lying down, coughing, thinking of a complain
Concomitants
Sx that happen in tandem
-diarrhea during vomiting, perspiration during H/A
Physical Generals
Any physical sx or modality which relates to the person as a whole
I.e. head-pain-increased suddenly compared to generals-pain-appearing suddenly
-includes thermal, time, aggravation
Antidote
Something that stops or blocks the action of a remedy
Medicine and patient antidotes differ.
