Quarter rest
-rhythm worth one beat of silence

-a dynamic symbol which indicates a moderately loud volume(mf)
Forte
-a dynamic symbol which indicates a loud volume (f)

Half rest
-a rhythm worth two beats of silence
Tied notes
-two pitches connected by a curved line
- the difference is the connected pitches are the same pitch or note
-played on the piano by combining the rhythm of two pitches
3/4time signature
-three beats in a measure
- a quarter note is worth one beat
Dotted half note
-a half note with a dot after it
-it is worth 3 beats of sound
Slurs
-two pitches connected by a curved line, these connected pitches are different
-slurred notes are played on the piano by connecting the notes with as little separation as possible
Pick up note/anacrusis
-is a note or are notes that occur before the first full measure
- the last measure of the piece is shortened by that number of beats in he pick up measure
