Perpetia
a sudden and unexpected reversal of fortune or a turning point in a story
Hubris
excessive pride or self-confidence, often leading to a character’s downfall
Hamartia
Tragic flaw that leads to character’s downfall
Pathos
The use of language or imagery to evoke emotions creating an emotional effect with the reader or audience
Exposition
A part of the story that introduces key background information (begging of book)
Inciting incident
An event that occurs early in a story, setting the main conflict/ problem
Rising action
The events that build tension leading up to the climax of the book
Climax
Most intense part, turning point of the book
Falling action
the events that occur after the climax, where the tension begins to ease and the story moves towards a resolution
Resolution
the conclusion of a story or play, where the main complications are resolved
