1- 20% below 2- 10% below 3 - Ideal body weight/fat 4- 10% above 5- 20% above
Pinch test
Pinch skin, let go and count how long it takes to go back to normal, should be 1-2 secs. (Quantitative Check.)
Anal Glands
In dogs & cats, can be blocked or infected, secrete a scent that is individual to them, need to be lanced by vets if infected.
Nictitating Membrane
Third eyelid, Not found in bearded dragons.
Diastema
Gap in herbivores mouth between front and back teeth, make sure that it is not overgrown, found in rabbits.
Capillary refill test
Press down on gum until it turns white, let go and count how long it takes to turn back to pink, should be 1-2 secs. If longer, then could be a problem with the heart or circulation.
Calibrating Scales
Place a known weight on and check displays the correct reading.
Tartar
Found on dogs teeth, can brush teeth, feed it a good diet, or get them cleaned once a year by a vet. If present, then teeth are unhealthy.
