Secondary Source
a book, article, or other source that provides information about an object of study but does not constitute direct, first-hand evidence.
Tithe
one tenth of annual produce or earnings, formerly taken as a tax for the support of the Church and clergy.
Heir
A person legally entitled to the property or rank of another on that person’s death.
Anachronism
The action of attributing something to a period to which it does not belong e.g. if a painter paints a portrait of Aristotle, and shows him wearing a wrist watch, it would be an example of anachronism, as we are all aware that wristwatches did not exist during Aristotle’s time.
Monarch
A sovereign head of state, especially a king, queen, or emperor.
Estates System
a three-estate system used until the French Revolution (1789–1799). Monarchy was for the king and the queen and this system was made up of clergy (the First Estate), nobles (the Second Estate), and peasants and bourgeoisie (the Third Estate).
Chronology
The arrangement of events or dates in the order of their occurrence.
Noble
Belonging by rank, title, or birth to the aristocracy.
Peasant
poor smallholder or agricultural labourer of low social status (chiefly in historical use or with reference to subsistence farming in poorer countries)
