a divide between the most economically developed and the least economically developed

a lack of wealth and services. It usually means low standards of living caused by low income, poor health and low educational qualifications
index of multiple deprivation (IMD)
means of showing how deprived some areas are using the incomes, housing, health, education, employment, crime and living environment
deindutrialisation
decreased activity in manufacturing and closure of industries, leading to unemployment
