This is theory of causes of diseases based of excess fluids: Black bile yellow bile blood and phlegm, this was created by Hippocrates.

Leading Roman doctor, who came from Greece, Adapted humoural theory, to include the law of opposites.
Hippocrates
Leading doctor and thinker of ancient Greece. Came up with the theory of the four humours.
Latrines
a toilet, especially a communal one
Medieval period
A name for the ‘Middle ages’ the period between the ancient world and the renaissance.
Miasma
The theory that diseases was caused by bad smells which was formed in the air.
Monasteries
A christian community most inhabited by monks or nuns. They provided hospitality for travellers, care for the sick and elderly.

A trained Doctor

The standard of living conditions and general health of the people.
Roman Empire
A powerful empire which grew from 70BC to 43AD, which had strong government and an effective army.
