Two types of caregiver-infant interaction:
Intersectional synchrony: the mirroring of the same behaviours at the same time. Newborn infants are able to interact using international synchrony.
Reciprocity: a reciprocal (two-way) behaviour exchange of the same or similar behaviours. The parent and infant take turns to respond to each other. Takes place around three months of age.
Caregiver-infant interaction definition
Meaningful social interactions required to develop an attachment between caregiver and their infant
Social sensitivity
Social consequences of research taking place e.g judgements, stigma etc.
What is the definition of ethnocentric?
Seeing the world through our own culture.
For example, seeing the eastern culture through a western culture view point.
What is a longitudinal study?
Follows what happens to selected variables over an extended time.
What is sensitive responsiveness?
The extent to which a parents is in-tune with a child’s emotional state, is able to decode those signals accurately, and able to respond appropriately and in a timely fashion.
