Block
Course of behaviour that prevents a client from doing a desired course of action, or when the counsellors are too close to the clients problems.
Body image
How a person views themselves in personality and their attributes
Client
One who asks for counselling
Client centered therapy
Only the client can define their problems and find solutions with help from the counsellor.
Conditioned response
How people react after the first time you are exposed to the stimulus.
Congruence
How the counsellor feels after a client has done or said something that could make you need to respond.l
Cop out
A rational response not always consciously recognised that avoids discussing a true issue.
Counselling
The use of skills to help a client recognice their problems and help find solutions
Denial
Dismissal of something that is fact.
Empathy
Putting yourself in someone elses shoes.
Euphoria
An appearance of well being even though they may not be
Fantasy
Interpretation of what the client percieves as reality based on their assumptions
Gestalt
How you view a person as a whole.
Investment
Taking interest to what the client is saying and feeling.
Identification
the recognition of traits in how the client views another person.
