What does alliteration mean?
It is where two or more words in a sentence begin with the same letter and make sense. E.g. The big blue, beret.
What does repetition mean?
Where you repeat the same word or phrase in a sentence or passage for dramatic effect.
What are metaphors?
Metaphors are sentences which state that something is something that’s it isn’t. E.g. The forest was a green blanket.
What are similes?
A simile is where you describe something being like something else that it clearly is not. E.g. The torch was as bright as the sun.
What is personnification?
It is where you give something non-human human like characteristics. E.g. the seaweed danced on the seabed.
What is figurative language?
It is a group of literary devices which includes similes, metaphors and personification.
What are onomatopoeia?
It is a word which sounds like the thing it is describing. E.g. Bang, Moo, Crack, Buzz.
What is juxtaposition?
It is where two things are placed side by side in contrast and is often false.
What is imagery?
Imagery is any kind of language used to describe something. E.g the green leaf, the red boat.
