Q

Why was unemployment increasing?

A

Due to two main factors:

  1. Other countries were producing manafactured goods at lower prices and superior quality
  2. There were increasing mechanisation and men replacing machines.

This decreased employment opportunities in occupations like car manafacturing in Detroit + it was hard to find alternative employment.
