Paris Summit

A

Khrushchev and Eisenhower were set to meet in Paris May 14 1960. 9 days before the summit. USSR announced that they has shot down an American U-2 spy plane.
Khrushchev demanded that all flights stop and that the us apologised for spying. Eisenhower refused. he walked out of the session.

A

peace was maintained as the west did nothing to stop the wall being built. but at the expense of the Germans people.
