Agonist
Muscle that is responsible for an action
Synergist
Performs SAME action around the same joints.
Antagonist
Performs OPPOSITE action around Same Joint
Flexion
DECREASING the angle between 2 parts.
Ex. Of Flexion
Dorsiflexion: foot flexed upward
Plantar Flexion: toes are flexed, movement of sole downward.
Extension
INCREASING the angle between 2 body parts.
Abduction
Movement of one limb AWAY from midline.

Adduction
Movement of limb TOWARD midline
Keyword: Add…(add more to midline)
Rotation
Movement of limb around its longitudinal axis without lateral displacement.
Circumduction
Circular motion around a joint.
Supination
Turning the palm UPWARD.
Pronation
Turning the palm DOWNWARD.
Inversion
Turning sole of foot inward or toward the midline.
Eversion
Turning sole of the foot outward away from midline.
Protraction
Pulling a body part FORWARD.
Retraction
Pulling a body part BACKWARD
Elevation
Pulling a body part upward.
Depression
Pulling a body part downward.

Closure of a round opening.
