Correlational Research Design
Correlational studies look at the relationship between two variables as they exist in the real world. Expressed as a CC -1 to +1
What are the Developmental domains?
Social, Emotional, physical, cognitive and language
Developmental research designs: Longitudinal Study
The same individuals are tested repeatedly over time, prone to attrition, expensive and can distort performance
Developmental research designs: Cross-Sectional Study
Children of different ages are tested at one point of development, cannot explore continuity of behaviour, cohort effects can complicate results.
Developmental research designs: Longitudinal-sequential studies
Hybrids of longitudinal and cross-sectional studies, gives less info than fully longitudinal study and is more Time consuming than a cross sectional study
Developmental time periods
Prenatal, infancy, early childhood, middle and late childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, middle adulthood, late adulthood.

Researchers might interpret behaviour in a way that supports their evidence

Participants change their behaviour because they are being observed
