Burden of Disease
Measures the impact of living illness and dying prematurely
Chronic Condition
A disease or condition that usually lasts for 3 months or longer and many can get worse over time

Refers to the difficulty performing essential daily tasks
Disability adjusted life years (DALY)
Measures disease burden by combining years of life lost and years lived with a disability
Health indicators
Are measurable values that provide insight into the health status and wellbeing of individuals or populations
Health Status
An individuals overall condition regarding physical, mental, and social wellbeing, typically assessed through various health indicators and measures
Hospital separations
Refers to the discharge of a patient from a hospital after receiving care, including completed treatment, transfer, or discharge against medical advice
Hospitalisation
Refers to the admission and stay of a patient in a hospital for medical treatment
Incidence
The number of new cases of a disease or condition that occurs within a given population over a specific time period
Life expectancy
The average number of years a person is expected to live based on statistical measures
Morbidity
Refers to the presence of disease or health conditions within a population.
Mortality
The state of being subjective to death, it also refers to the rate of death in a population
Prevalence
Is the population of a population that has a specific disease or condition
Psychological distress
Refers to a term used to describe emotional suffering characterized by symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and stress
Rates of Hospitalization
Indicate how frequently people are admitted to hospitals within a population over a set time period
Self assessed health status
An individuals personal evaluation of their overall condition
Years lived with disability (YLD)
Measures the years spent living with health conditions that impair quality of life.
Years of life lost (YLL)
Measures the number of years a person would have lived if they had not died prematurely from a particular cause
