What is the 13th amendment?
The amendment that abolished slavery.
What is the 14th amendment?
The amendment that granted citizenship to anyone born in the U.S.
What is the 15th amendment?
The amendment that gave all men in the U.S. the right to vote.
What is the 16th amendment?
The amendment that stated that congress could collect taxes.
What is the 17th amendment?
The amendment that stated that 2 people from each state could serve in senate.
What is the 18th amendment?
The amendment that stated selling, manufacturing, and transporting alcoholic beverages was illegal.
What is the 19th amendment?
The amendment that granted women the right to vote.
What is reconstruction?
To construct or form again; used to reunite the South into the Union.
What is the Freedman’s Bureau?
An organization that aided former slaves and poor whites by distributing food&clothing. The organization also built schools and hospitals.
What is the KKK?
A secret terrorist group made of confederate veterans, mayors, judges, and sheriffs. The KKK believed in white supremacy and would violently work to prove this. The KKK wanted to prevent social equality.
What are the Jim Crow Laws?
Local and state laws for radical segregation.
What is a carpetbagger?
People who went to the South to take advantage of unsettled conditions of the war and exploit the South.
What are exodusters?
African American migrants who moved out of the South(mostly to the Midwest).
What is the battle of Wounded Knee?
The last Indian War. The battle was a conflict between the North Dakota Native Americans and the Americans.
Who was Sitting Bull?
The leader of the Sioux Native Americans in North Dakota.
