A

A secret terrorist group made of confederate veterans, mayors, judges, and sheriffs. The KKK believed in white supremacy and would violently work to prove this. The KKK wanted to prevent social equality.

A

A

A

Angel Island: San Francisco Bay(California) port of entry for immigrants.

What are tenements?

A

Multi-family houses created to provide in immigrants with houses. Tenements were designed to fit in as many families as possible. Tenements were not clean, had little windows, poor ventilation, and were dangerous.

What are Settlement Houses?

A

Places that provided poor immigrants with social services. Immigrants could receive food, clothing, medical attention, and learn English. They were also free to practice their own customs.
