Scan
to use keywords to find specific information in a text.
Deduction
adding up information in a text to find an overall meaning
Explicit
Words that tell the reader something directly
Implicit
Words that give clues and suggestions to a meaning that the reader must try and work out
Simile
A comparison between two things that uses the word as or like
Metaphor
A type of comparison that describes one thing as it is something else
Narrative
A series of connected events presented in the form of a story ( fiction or non-fiction) ; a narrative usually has at least one main character and offen includes their thoughts and feelings
Non- narrative
Information ( usually non - fiction that is presented in factual or statiscal groups , not necessarily in chronological order ( e.g in a leatkt dictionary or encyclopedia
Point of view
A personal opinion or a way of looking at something
