ethics

macroallocation
of scarce medical resources; decisions are made by Congress, health system agencies, and insurance companies
microallocation
of scarce medical resources; decisions are made by providers and individual members of the health care team
female genital mutilation (FGM)
Partial or complete removal of the clitoris; partial or total removal of the labia minora and/or labia majora; narrowing the vaginal opening by creating a covering seal; and the pricking, piercing, or cauterizing of genitals
tubal ligation
female surgical sterilization procedure that severs and seals the female fallopian tubes
vasectomy
male surgical sterilization procedure that severs and cuts each vas deferens
