An Individual who is Heterozygous for a faulty allele that causes a genetic disease in the homozygous form

A substance that speeds up a chemical reaction, while remaining chemically unchanged
Cell Membrane
The outer membrane of a cell, that controls what moves in out of the cell
Cell wall
A rigid structure that surrounds the cell
Cellulose
A big Carbohydrate molecule that makes up cell walls

The brain and spinal cord where information is processes
Chlorophyll
The green pigment contained in chloroplasts

The organelles in which photosynthesis takes place
Chromosome
Thread-like structure carrying the genetic information found in the nucleus of a cell
Clone
Offspring produced by asexual reproduction which are genetically identical to the parent
Combustion
The process of burning with oxygen
Competition
The process by which living organisms compete for limited resources
Concentration Gradient
The gradient between an area of high concentration and low concentration
Contraceptive pill
A female pill that prevents pregnancy, it contains hormones to inhibit FSH production
Control Group
A group in an experiment where the independent variable isn’t changed to compare to the main result
Core Body temperature
The internal temperature of the body, that must remain constant for enzymes
Coronary artery
An artery which carries oxygenated blood to the muscles of the heart
Cuticle
The waxy covering of a leaf that reduces water loss from the surface
Cystic Fibrosis
A genetic disease that affects the lungs, digestive and reproductive systems
Cytoplasm
Water-based gel in which the organelles of all living cells are suspended
