The process design teams use to create products that provide meaningful and relevant experiences to the user
UX Research
Understanding the problem and figuring out who the users are by collecting data
Visual Design
Aesthetics of a site and strategic implementation of images, colors, typography, etc.
Engages users and builds trust in the brand
Information Architecture
Structural design, organization, and labeling of websites, intranets, mobile applications, and social media software
Organizing content so it is easy to find and use
Content Strategy
Satisfying business requirements through content creation and distribution
What words, images, or multimedia will be on the page
Wireframing
Simple illustration of a page’s interface that shows layout, content, function, and behavior
Prototyping
Preliminary version or draft of a product that allows a user to click through the product
Can be low fidelity or high fidelity
Usability Testing
Evaluating a product or service by testing it with different users
Accessibility
Designing for everyone and analyzing how well products, devices, services, and environments have been designed for people who experience disabilities
Information Architect
Responsible for a product’s organization
Determines how information should be arranged to make it easy to understand
Interaction Designer
Understands how the product feels and responds to a user
Focuses on precise UI details such as movement, animation, and visual aesthetics
UI Designer
Establishes the look and feel of page visuals and layout
Product Designer
An ambiguous role that includes many aspects of UX and UI from user research to interface design
Frontend Designer
Brings together programming and layout to create a website’s visual identity and interactions
T-Shaped Designer
Has an arsenal of skills in one discipline but also some knowledge/familiarity with other disciplines
