Pitch

Texture
Relationship between musical voices.
Form
Unfolding of a piece, its narrative eg. A-A-B-A or 12 bar blues
Antiphony/antiphonal
Musical texture featuring call and response.
Counterpoint
Two or more simultaneous, independent lines of approximately equal importance.
Blue note
Pitch purposely lowered a semitone.
Break
Section of a piece where all band members other than the soloist stop.
Bridge
The B-section in an A-A-B-A or A-B-A
Changes/Chord changes
The sequence of chords of a song
Chart
Musical score used by jazz musicians.
Chorus
A single playing through of the entire structure of a song.
Head
The melody or written theme of a piee
Horn
Generic term for a musicians instrument.
Riff
A short melodic phrase.
Vamp
A short chord progression and/or accompaniment figure.
