what is an absolutist?
believes that there exists a standard of right and wrong and is totally binding on all humans
what are relativists?
they believe that there is no absolute right or wrong. a relativist can say they find a certain action unjust or morally wrong, but they do not conclude that everyone else should feel the same about the action
what does subjective mean?
a theory that is dependent on a personal view
what does objective mean?
a theory that is not influenced by an individuals personal viewpoint
what does consequentialism mean?
an ethical theory based on considering the morality of an action based on it’s consequences
what does deontological mean?
an ethical theory that is concerned with the acts themselves. for instance a deontologist might argue murder was wrong whatever the situation or consequence
what does teleological mean?
a theory concerned with the end purpose or goal of an action
