Zombie family

A person who moves from one person to another very quickly, spending as little time single as possible

The proportion of the population of the population that is dependent on the welfare state in comparison with the proportion of the population in employment

Caring, nurturing, supportive role (typically women)

Living together apart-in a long and committed relationships but do not live in the same household
Functional fit
As society changes, so does family type and its functions eg as society went from pre-industrial to industrial family went from extended to nuclear
A household
An individual or group living together at one address and sharing a living space
Net migration
The difference between the number of people who enter a territory (immigrants) and the number who leave (emigrants) generally calculated over a year

Rapid technological and cultural changes cause psychological and physical damage to children
Assimilation
The process whereby individuals or groups of differing ethnic heritages are absorbed into the dominant culture of society

Households that consist of one or more adult women and their children without the presence of farthers

When a women juggles emotional work, unpaid domestic work and paid work

Number of deaths under the age of 1 year per year
Symmetrical family
Where a family divides all responsibilities equally between partners
Negotiated family
Does not conform to the traditional family norm, but vary according to the wishes and expectations of their members who decide what is best for them by discussion
