Prejudice
To pre-judge before you know the whole story
Discrimination
The action of prejudice
Relative poverty
Relates to what a particular society considers to be poor, eg. someone in the UK might be considered to be relatively poor if they live on less than the average UK income.
Absolute poverty
Is when someone doesn’t have access to basic human needs eg. Water, clothing,education and shelter
Digital poverty
The lack of access to digital technologies, including hardware, software and reliable internet connectivity
Fuel poverty
Being unable to afford to keep one’s home adequately heated
Generational poverty
When poverty has become a familial pattern for at least 2 generations
Situational poverty
Caused by a sudden crisis or loss and is often temporary
Urban poverty
Overcrowded housing, risk of forceful eviction, lack of safe water, sanitation and waste collection
Rural poverty
Live in rural setting whilst lacking financial resources and essentials for living
Poverty trap
When you are unable to escape poverty. Occur when the economics system demands a considerate amount of money to pull those who are impoverished out of poverty. Those without a lot of money might find it hard to get that amount of money, which creates the cycle of poverty
