Simplification strategies
Deletion of unstressed syllables or final consonants!
Assimilation through consonant or vowel harmony!
Addition of diminutive forms or syllables through reduplication! Consonant cluster reduction!
Substitution of one phoneme for another!
• Sometimes parents will encourage phonological simplification by using the forms
themselves !
