What is Quantitative Data?
Anything that can be measured or counted.
What is Qualitative Data?
Anything that is relative or based on a quality or description.
What is Categorical Data?
Qualitative Data broken down into a manageable number of categories that we can analyze. Frequently used with Qualitative Data.
Population
Entire group in study.
Sample
Smaller group or subset of population.
Statistic
A number obtained from the sample.
Discrete Data
Data you cannot count on your fingers.
Discrete Data
Data you cannot count on your fingers. Quantitative Data that is counted, not measured (i.e. Number of People, Number of Eggs, etc.)
Continuous Data
Data generated from measurements. Quantitative data that is measured, not counted (i.e. Heights, Weights, Volumes, etc.)
