key takeaways from what we did in class Flashcards
1
Q
the four points to remember when writing my critical essays
A
- make the introduction more relevent, no one cares when he was born and when he wrote the play
- be more insightful with the quotes - you have the time!
- put the best example you have first, it doesnt need to be in chronological order
- avoid repetitive phrases
2
Q
what do i need to remember when doing the close reading paper
A
- think about the idea behind what the writer is saying when you are paraphrasing and then paraphrase that rather than just turning into a human thesaurus
- really think deeply about the key ideas in the two passages
- word choice the f out of the passage whenever there are language questions because if you remember the way the marking instructions are, there are literally loads of possibilities
- think like the marking instructions as much as you can
- what is the writer saying?????
- read the whole passage dont go straight to the questions
- dont overcomplicate it - when you look at the marking instructions its so much more simpler than you make it out to be when you are doing the paper - so just simplify it - dont make it hard for yourself
