What is social solidarity ?
Where society is unified by our shared norms and values.
What are specialist skills ?
Where schools prepare students for life in wider society and these skills are used to create an effective adult workforce.
What is value consensus ?
A common set of beliefs and principles to work towards as a society.
What is meritocracy ?
The belief that you get your job and pay based off of the reward system and how hard you work.
What is social stratification ?
The system of social standing , and where different group of people are on the social ladder. Factors that can contribute to these are wealth, education, income, family background, power etc.
What is female emancipation ?
The process of liberating women and empowering them with rights, freedom and opportunities for political, social and economic change.
What is social cohesion ?
The strength of relationships and the sense of solidarity within / among members of the community.
What are social assets ?
networks, institutions, organisations that exist within society along with the trust that exists within groups and communities.
What is cultural deprivation ?
Where people/ groups of people have inferior norms, values, skills, knowledge etc due to inedaquate socialisation.
What is cultural capital ?
The social assets of a person that can be used to increase their chances of success in life.
