Metaphor, scorpions= death= murder. Macbeth considering to murder more bc no lineage like Banquo.

“Be” = imperative verb, ordering his wife to be submissive.

“scorch’d”= not yet killed, biblical illusion of hell.
“killed”- violent imagery
“snake”- Banquo + Fleance, he’s become delusional.

His first line, “fair and foul” repeating what witches have said- immediate effect on him. Paradox = inner conflict, proleptic irony.

Stars, represent God, afraid of showing his true feelings.
Juxtaposition of light and black. Alliteration of “Let” “Light” “Deep” “Dark”, showing he has to show- must make a choice.

Sleep= innocence, sleep is personified.
