What is desktop publishing
can be described as the creation of documents for publication
small or large scale using specific layout software on a personal computer, MAC, Tablet or digital device.
DTP assembles type and graphics within a specific page design suited to a given brief and can then be outputted via a print or screen medium.
DTP can be transformed into interactive documents such as online newspapers and books.

Copywriter
A copywriter writes text for the purpose of advertising or marketing.
Copywriters are mainly used in relation to promotional material, although some can also be used to write content these can also be referred to as content writers.

Illustrator
An Illustrator uses the skills of painting and drawing to express ideas and facts within a given brief. The style and mood of the images created by the illustrator would be created with the target audience in mind.

Photographer
A photographer within the area of DTP would be used to capture visual images associated with a specific piece. The photographer would incorporate a wide range of creative and technical skills to convey appropriate meaning through their images
Proof –reader
The job of a proofreader involves reviewing text and graphics within a specific piece, e.g. newsletter / book. The proofreader checks for spelling and grammar mistakes along with any typos.
check for size, fonts and spacing and that any photos or images used are sized and placed correctly.
Typesetter
A typesetter specialises in page layout and text styling for print. They can work on a variety of projects such as novels, books, brochures,
Designer
A designer or graphic designer works in a very creative role, they are responsible for designing solutions to briefs with high visual impact.
they can work in different areas : DTP graphic designer would be involved in creating websites, advertising, magazines, posters, etc.
The designer would work with page layout software such as Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress and Microsoft Publisher.

Copyright law in Ireland
Copyright in Ireland is protected by the Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000. Graphics and printed material is protected under this legislation. The person that creates the work can copyright the work for their lifetime and 70 years after.
