Leading Nationalist Political Leader of the late Nineteenth Century. Led the Land League with Davitt and then from 1879 head of the Home Rule Party, known as the Uncrowned King of Ireland. MP for County Meath

Liberal Prime Minister who passed 1870 and 1881 Land Acts. He failed to get Home Rule bills through Parliament in 1886 and 1893.

A

Former Mayor of Birmingham. He led the Liberal Unionists rebellion against Gladstone in 1886. Later joined the Conservatives.

Lord Frederick Cavendish

A

Married to Gladstone’s niece. He was sent by Gladstone to Dublin as Chief Secretary in May 1882. He was murdered along with Under Secretary T.H Burke within hours of arriving in Phoenix Park by a Fenian group called the Invincibles.
