describe the fight between Aeneas and mezentius and lausus

A

M throws his spear at Aeneas, it bounces off killing someone else, A throws spear and it hits M in the groin, Lausus leaps forward between M and A, Aeneas warns him and asks him why he’s doing this, calls him “too rash”, Aeneas drives his sword through Lausus piercing the tunic his mother made him, Aeneas asks Lausus’ comrades why they didn’t help him

he kept asking about lausus and what happened to him, find out hes dead, questions why he wanted to live so much that he allowed his son to die in his place, acknowledges his past conduct was wrong and admits his guilt

A

speaks to his horse, Rhaebus, who he loves, tells the horse that they’ll either be victorious and kill Aeneas or they will fall together, says that he doesn’t think the horse would abide by any other master

A

Aeneas throws spear, it hits the horse in the temples and it falls head first on top of M, Aeneas taunts him and M asks that A protects his body from the hate of his people and that he be buried with his son, Aeneas then stabs him in the throat

whilst trying to restore peace, he is wounded by an arrow, he withdraws from the battle, healers are unable to help, the venus heals him with a magic herb restoring his strength
