Nuclear Family
A couple with one or more biological or adopted children
Extended Family
Families that include kin or relatives beyond the nuclear family
(Vertical) Extended Family
Comprises of not just two generations( parents and children) but three or more (grandparents)
Lone Parent Family
Family where at least one child lives with just one parent
Reconstituted Family
Where a couple come together and form a family including at least one child form a previous relationship of one of the couple
Same Sex Family
A family where the couple are of the same sex
Non Family Households
Families where not everyone are blood related
Beanpole Families
Family groups now getting thinner like a beanpole. Family groups of three or four generations.
