Tradition VS change
One of the main features of the Renaissance was a slow changes from respect for tradition to the search for change. It was a time of re-born interest in all things Greek and Roman. People realised they had loved enquiry, which challenged ideas.
The Importance of Printing
The printing press was invented by Johannes Gutenberg in the 1450s and by 1500 printing presses were being widely used. This was crucial as it helped change ideas in medicine because it spread ideas far more rapidly.
Scientific Developments
The Royal Society, named after Charles II who attended the weekly meetings to discuss new ideas and demonstrate new experiments. It also published books and articles to spread ideas. This ‘scientific revolution’ allowed scientists to challenge old ideas.
