•The first part was called thePreamble- Introduction
•The secobnd part accused King George the third of 29 acts of tyranny
• The last part was the conclusion, this states that we are the independent country of the United States of America
(This isn’t right - this is for the 3 parts of the Declaration of Independence)

What were the strengths of the British army

A
  • Professional army of about 42,000 troops
  • KGIII hired additional 30,000 mercenaries from Germany
  • They recruited Loyalists, African Americans and American Indians to fight for them (knew the land)

Why did the colonists want independence

A

Because they wanted to have the right to make up their own laws. Also, they felt like they didn’t have any say in the British Parliament.
Plus, they felt is was unfair that the Brits were putting heavy taxes on them because they didn’t have enough money from the French and Indiana war which wasn’t fair to them.

  • Distance between Great Britain and America was long and expensive to send troops and supplies (Battle began prior to news arriving in England)
  • Poor leadership (Lord George Germain: no sense of how to defeat rebels)
  • KGIII had trouble convincing British people that defeating the colonists (Rebels) was important for Great Britain futures
