Connotation and Denotation
Connotation is when the reader perceives the word or phrase differently than what it actually means. Denotation is what it actually means.
Difference between Implicit and Explicit
Implicit is what is implied in the text and explicit is very clear and leaves no room for doubt.
Analyze
To analyze is to take a text a part and look at it separately then put it all back together to form a conclusion.
Synthesize
To make a new statement out of an older statement
Paraphrase
To sum up a passage in different wording but with the same meaning
To summarize
Is to take a much longer piece and put its meaning and purpose into a few sentences.
Empathy
The feeling that you understand and share another person’s experiences and emotions; the ability to share someone else’s feelings.
Infer
To come to a conclusion
