What is a record
Holds information about one person or thing in file, these are made up of fields
What is a field
Holds information about a single piece of data

What is the primary key
Uniquely identifies each record in a database such as an ID or an account number
What is the foreign key
Enables you to set up relationships or links between tables in a database
Describe the 4 types of database validation
Length check
Specifies the size of get field such as the number of characters
Range check
Specifies the range of numbers a field can hold
Presence check
Checks that data has been entered and that the field is no left blank
Restricted choice
Presents the user with a choice often in the form of a drop down menu
What is a flat file database
A simple database structure that has one table with all of the fields and data they contain. There is the risk of data duplication
What are linked tables
Composed of a range of tables that are linked together to provide the user with different pathways through the database
What is the URL composed of

What are hyperlinks
Webpages are linked together by hyperlinks
What is an internal hyperlink
Also RELATIVE
Takes the user to a new location within the current open website
What is an external hyperlink
Also ABSOLUTE
Takes the user to a new location in another website located on a different server or computer

What is a browser
A program that helps you navigate the World Wide Web and move between or look at web pages
In a browser you can enter the address of the page or click a hyperlink
Browsers can:
Find and look at web pages
Navigate between pages
Move forwards and backwards between pages
