Explain the purpose and the impact of the Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba?
The purpose of Bay of Pigs invasion was the US attempt to retake Cuba after Fidel Castro overtook it.
Proved to Russia that the US didn’t want communism.
Since the US lost this battle it made people question is John Kennedy could stop communism from spreading.
Describe the Cuban missile crisis? How was it resolved?
Russia kept actively establishing nuclear missiles on Cuba. It was resolved by the US imposing a naval blockade which left the Soviet Union to withdraw their missiles and not invade Cuba if the U.S. removed their missiles from Turkey
Why did the US get involved in Vietnam?
USA was afraid that communism would spend to South Vietnam and possibly the rest of Asia

The gulf of Tonkin resolution gave authorization to conduct military operators to help promote international peace in Southeast Asia. This was to help containment.

They were a series of attacks where America underestimated Vietnam’s power and strong strategies. This impacted the American home front because Americans began to question the military and political leaders who said the war would end soon

The Democratic Party was being divided over Vietnam policies and Robert Kennedys died leaving the Democratic Party without a clear front runner which divided the party even more.
What happened at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in 1968?
The Democratic Party was divided by the Vietnam policies and the democrats had no one to vote for which led to many people to protest. Clashing with police and national guards it led to riots and violence. This was an embarrassment to the democrats because it led to reelection of Nixon.
