keeping homes warm Flashcards
what is conduction, convection and radiation.
conduction - Heat is thermal energy, It can be transferred from one place to another by conduction, which involves particles.
convection - Heat can be transferred from one place to another by convection. Like conduction, the process involves particles.
Radiation - does not need a material to transfer energy, energy transfer through vacuum.

What is the sankey diagram.
It shows the energy transformation, energy from a source like home is lost to the environment, using different amount of insulation cost different amount.

What is payback time.
is cost of insulation / annual saving.
How is heat wasted.
What can we do to reduce this.
Everything that transfers energy will waste some of the energy as heat to the surrounding
buildings that are energy efficient are well insulated; so little energy is lost.
