A

Growing up, I always knew I wanted a career in healthcare, there’s not a lot of careers in science especially chemistry that allows u to interact with patients I feel like in pharmacy you have that opportunity as pharmacy offers this perfect balance where I can dive into the science and chemistry behind medications while also having the opportunity to interact with patients directly and impacting their lives in a positive manner. You know, seeing how medicines can dramatically improve someone’s symptoms and quality of life has always fascinated me. Coming from a background where medication is a part of daily life for many, I’ve always been curious about how these drugs actually work in the body, their potential interactions, and any side effects they might have I feel like pharmacy offers me the perfect opportunity to fulfil my curiosity about these things .What really intrigued me to pharmacy is the fact that you can work in a variety of different industries and settings in pharmacy such as community, clinical, research etc the versatility it offers is something that I really love about pharmacy, theres

are so many options to explore. Another reason is that I feel like pharmacy is career that is always evolving there’s always new rules and regulations that are being put into place like recently the first service rule that was announced that allows pharmacists to dignose 7 different diseases such as shingles the idea that your s continually learning even after your degree about new medication and regulations which is something that aligns with my goals as I want to continually learn new things and expand my knowledge.

Q

Talk to me about a topic you enthusiastic about

A

Drug addiction is a complex and multifaceted issue that deeply impacts individuals, families, and communities. As a future pharmacist, I am passionate about addressing this challenge through a combination of prevention, treatment, and support initiatives.First and foremost, I believe in the importance of education and prevention efforts to raise awareness about the risks associated with substance abuse. By promoting understanding of the physiological and psychological effects of drugs, we can empower individuals to make informed decisions and avoid falling into the trap of addiction. However, for those already struggling with addiction, it’s essential to provide comprehensive treatment and support services. Pharmacists play a crucial role in this aspect by collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure patients receive appropriate medication-assisted treatment, counseling, and behavioral therapies tailored to their specific needs.Furthermore, I believe in the power of harm reduction strategies to minimize the negative consequences of drug use while respecting individuals’ autonomy and dignity. This may include providing access to naloxone for opioid overdose reversal, clean needle exchange programs, and outreach services to connect individuals with resources and support.Additionally, as a pharmacist, I am committed to reducing the stigma surrounding addiction and promoting a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to care. Every individual struggling with addiction deserves to be treated with empathy, respect, and dignity, and I am dedicated to providing that support in my future practice. In summary, drug addiction is a significant public health challenge that requires a comprehensive and compassionate response. As a future pharmacist, I am passionate about playing a role in addressing this issue through education, prevention, treatment, and support initiatives, all while advocating for the rights and well-being of individuals affected by addiction.
