Q

How do you pronounce ア?

A

Ah
Note, Japanese pronunciation is strict! That means there are no exceptions on how you say letters! Always that way, vowels are the only thing that sound different from English letters!

Q

When to use Katakana?

A

Since Japanese is written in Kanji–borrowed Chinese symbols– and particles are always in Hiragana, Katakana isn’t used much. It’s used for words that aren’t Chinese and for emphasis.
