- the universal law
- don’t treat people as a means to an end , treat them as an ends in themselves
-act as if you live in a kindgom of ends

what we must follow / believe in oder to make sense of catergorical imperative

What was the context of the situation?
during the enlightenment era a time of thinking about thinking. If earthquakes destroyed churches , why would god do this ?
What were the three postulates ?
freedom / summon bonum
immortality

What is the first postulate and explanation ?
freedom and summon bonum - we must accept we have freedom and we are autonomous but choose to follow laws and rules
What is the second postulate and explanation ?
Immortality - by doing our duty we will lead to ultimate happiness in our afterlife
What is the third postulate and explanation ?
god - idea doesnt begin with god but ideas link to him such as eternal law and rationality they came from god
What is summon bonum?
a place of virtue and happiness which all humans should try to reach
What did Kant say in his book ?
out come is irrelevant if the intentions were rights we control the will behind the action . Good will is only intrinsically good no action can always have good consequences

our top duties - including fidelity and non maleficence
