The history of Kanji
A
Kanji means Han charẩcters and originated in China. It was introduced to Japan and Japanese people adapted it to represent their own language and build a writing system.
There are 3 veréions/tránlations of the same Kanji. The original Chinese version onyomi, the Japanese translation kunyomi and nanori is when kanji is used to represent names. Some kanjis may not have all versions, such as characters that can’t be directly translated into its Japanese meaning, so it is important to be aware of all 3 possible readings
